We recognize the value of ensuring that your child is comfortable swimming with multiple instructors. Can I Register if I don’t have a pool?If you don't have access to a pool, you can still register for lessons without specifying a pool location. We will make every effort to find instructors within your desired driving radius who have pool access for your lessons. However, please note that we cannot guarantee instructor availability. If no nearby instructors with pool access are available, we will inform you of this and you can cancel your registration at no charge. Some of our clients utilize public, recreational, or gym pools for our lessons. However, we advise checking with the pool management in advance. Each facility has its own policies regarding outside instructors teaching at their location, and some, such as the YMCA, may not permit external instructors. If you don't have access to a pool or suitable location, we recommend visiting the website of the US Swim School Association for information about location-based swim schools in your area.

Can I give my favorite instructor a gift?Expressing appreciation for our instructors is something we greatly value. However, it is important to note that giving gifts is entirely optional. Please never feel obligated to give presents.
-
During group lessons, why is my child occasionally out of the water? Our children's swimming classes are structured in increments of 30 minutes, 45 minutes, and 1 hour, all of which have proven to be efficient and effective. During these sessions, while the student is poolside, they have the opportunity to observe and learn from their peers. This practice of children observing each other serves as an excellent teaching tool. Our instructors actively engage with all students both in and out of the water, ensuring intentional interactions at all times. Rest assured, there is no wasted time during our classes, as every moment is purposefully utilized.
-
How do I prepare for my lesson? We encourage students of all age groups to come prepared with the following items: 1. Swim cap 2. Goggles 3. Towel 4. Sunscreen (if the lesson takes place outdoors) 5. For our Bubble Bonding with Baby classes, please ensure to bring a swim diaper. These items are essential for ensuring a safe and enjoyable swimming experience for all participants.
-
Do parents need to be at the lessons? In the water? It is mandatory for a parent or guardian to be present during all lessons. Parents have the option to supervise the lessons from various locations such as inside the house, clubhouse, or the pool deck. If a child becomes restless or fussy during the lesson, we suggest that parents observe the lesson out of their child's sight but within earshot. This allows young children to perform better as they can focus on a single authority figure at a time. For children under 2 years of age, we strongly recommend that a parent joins them in the water. This helps create a sense of comfort and security for the child during the lesson.
-
What temperature is necessary for swim lessons and for the Learn to Swim Guarentee? Our "Learn to Swim Guarantee" requires a minimum pool temperature of 82 degrees. However, our other lesson packages do not have a specific temperature requirement. Our priority is to ensure that the water is warm enough for students to feel comfortable and successfully complete their lessons. Depending on your location, surface devices like solar rings or covers can effectively heat the pool in some cases. However, if sufficient sunlight is not available to achieve a comfortable temperature, it may be necessary to consider alternative locations for your lessons. The recommended temperature for swim lessons varies based on the age and comfort level of the participants. 1. For infants and toddlers (under 3 years), the water temperature should be between 84°F and 88°F (29°C to 31°C) as warmer water helps keep young children comfortable during their lessons. 2. Preschoolers and school-age children: The ideal water temperature for this age group is around 82°F to 86°F (28°C to 30°C). It should be warm enough to prevent discomfort but not excessively warm. 3. Teenagers and adults: A temperature range of 78°F to 82°F (25°C to 28°C) is typically suitable for older participants. This range balances comfort with the ability to engage in physical activity without overheating. It's important to note that individual preferences and specific circumstances may vary. Additionally, local regulations and guidelines may impose specific temperature requirements for swim lesson facilities.
-
What if my child has a strong fear of the water or just doesn’t seem interested in learning how to swim at all?If your child experiences a significant fear of the water or lacks interest in learning how to swim, we understand and are prepared to address these situations. At E.A.S.T, our instructors are trained to work with children who have water-related fears or lack motivation to swim. We approach such cases with patience, sensitivity, and customized strategies to help your child overcome their fears and develop an interest in swimming. Our experienced instructors will take the time needed to create a safe and supportive environment, gradually introducing water activities and building trust with your child. Our primary goal is to ensure that every child feels comfortable, empowered, and ultimately develops the necessary skills and confidence in the water.
-
Why is so much time spent learning to float? The skill of floating is regarded as a paramount life-saving technique for our students. It provides vital benefits such as relaxation and an opportunity to restore energy, enabling them to safely swim back to designated areas. This essential aspect of our teaching methodology, known as the "Cast Anchor" method, emphasizes the significance of floating as a means to ensure the well-being and safety of our students.
-
How do I know which lesson to choose?Mastering the skill of swimming requires more than a few lessons. For beginners, we highly recommend a minimum of 12 lessons, with sessions scheduled 2-3 times per week. This frequency enhances skill retention and overall progress. Our adult clients typically opt for 1-2 lessons per week. To optimize the learning experience, we suggest 30-minute lessons for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, 45-minute sessions for school-age children, and 60-minute lessons for teenagers and adults. We are committed to working closely with students and payees to maximize the benefit of each lesson, as long as there is a genuine desire to learn.
-
Do you recommend flotation devices for new swimmers? We strongly discourage the use of flotation devices for beginners. Our approach prioritizes learning to swim without relying on such devices, as we have found that their use can impede the progress of our swimmers. Our goal is to build swimmers' confidence in their own abilities and help them develop comfort in the water. While we do employ various tools and equipment to provide assistance during lessons, we never advocate for using flotation devices throughout the entirety of a lesson. However, if you feel it is necessary to use a flotation device for your child, we recommend selecting one that allows them to maintain a horizontal body position in the water. Examples of suitable devices include life jackets, swim vests, or flotation suits with foam pads in the front and back. Please refrain from using arm floaties or water wings, as they encourage a vertical body position in the water and can reinforce poor habits that are difficult to correct. Additionally, it is important to note that inflatable flotation devices can be dangerous as they have the potential to deflate or pop unexpectedly.
-
Can I mix lessons for my kids?To enroll in the 1-hour Emerald package, it is necessary to pay for the full duration of the lesson. This package allows for up to two students to share the lesson, with each student receiving 30 minutes of instruction. It is important to note that this split time arrangement is only available for the Emerald package and cannot be applied to any other package. If you wish to add an additional student to any package, you have the option to do so by paying an additional $20 per lesson per month for each additional student. This allows for flexibility in accommodating extra students while maintaining the standard duration of the lessons.
-
Is the Infant self-rescue class offered (ISR)?Infant Self Rescue is not a service we provide. Our instructors are not authorized to offer this, so please refrain from requesting it. We prioritize the well-being and progress of young children, which is why we choose not to teach infant self-rescue. We acknowledge that not all students who engage in ISR face negative outcomes. However, due to the potential risks associated with a more aggressive teaching approach, we have adopted a gentler method in our infant/toddler swim lessons. Our instructors use songs and games to create a positive and enjoyable experience in the water, while still encouraging appropriate developmental progress for each age group.
-

Canceling Vs. pausing lessonsWe understand that unexpected situations may arise, leading you to temporarily pause or cancel your swim lessons. Pausing is the recommended option if you intend to resume your lessons but need to take an extended or indefinite break. It is particularly suitable for circumstances such as relocation, work or school commitments, and the fall or winter seasons. With pausing, you can temporarily suspend your lessons for a maximum period of one year. For instance, if it is late in the season, you can pause your lessons and resume them during the next swim season. On the other hand, canceling is the preferable choice if you do not plan to complete your lessons and do not wish to continue with instruction for your student. Here are the details regarding fees and refund deductions for pausing and canceling: Pausing: - Fee: $0 - Refund Deductions: $0 - You can continue your lessons anytime within one year without any additional fees. However, if you exceed the one-year period, you will need to re-register, which incurs a fee. Canceling: - Fee: $50* or $0 (depending on the circumstances) - Refund Deductions: - $50 cancellation fee - Cost of lessons already completed - Student re-registration fees Please note that if you choose to cancel, you may be eligible for a refund minus the applicable deductions. However, if you decide to pause your lessons, no fees or deductions will apply unless you exceed the one-year duration. *The cancellation fee may vary depending on the specific circumstances.

The cancellation fee is necessary to cover the expenses associated with processing and carefully selecting each instructor-client match. -
What if my child cries during the entire lesson? Should I cancel? It is not uncommon for students, particularly in the initial stages of building a rapport with their instructor, to experience moments of crying during lessons. We kindly request understanding and patience in such situations. Learning to swim can be a daunting task for individuals of all backgrounds, including those who feel uneasy in the water or have special needs. It may take time for students to establish a sense of familiarity and trust with their instructor, which could result in emotional responses. Our instructors are well aware of this possibility and will adapt their teaching methods to facilitate your student's progress and cultivate a positive experience in the water.
